I'm sure the Tarox kit works great, but it really should as well at that price. If you want a cheaper option, go for a set of calipers, brackets and discs from a Lancia Thema Turbo 16v or 3,0 V6, they use 284mm discs. Should be a straight swap on an Uno. These require 15 inch wheels. I'm sure that plenty other Fiat brakes will fit as well. Even the Brembos on Coupe 20VT if you want something really big.

Remember that when you change your front brakes you most likely have to do something in the back as well. The cylinders in the front will most likely be bigger than original, meaning you will get too much brake force to the rear brakes.

Unfortunately I can't use the tarox kit as it woun't fit under 15" rims and i think upgrading to 16" would be to big on an uno and with no power steering. Will look into the lancia thema breaks.

I also need to change the master cylinder.. as it's currently on the right hand side (driver side) and need to move it to the passenger side so the new engine will fit.Have been told that there is a break servo, pedal mechanism etc to make it work with the master cylinder on the other side but don;t know which model

The uno turbo has definatley got the mechanism for the servo to be on the left but can i advise you that if you are going to take the servo off reguardless of fitting the mechanism or not that you do not use the uno servo, replace it with the punto servo which does require a custom metal spacer of about 2.5cm iirc (you will need to check this) along with the punto master cylinder as the two combined give soo much better braking than the rubbish uno servo and cylinder plus the punto system i think is more compact.
