I have recently purchased an 'almost complete' restore of an '86 Bertone. Yea - it's a good thing. But here's the ya-ya: It takes forever - up to 15 cranks - or a push - to start in the morning. After that, it runs so sweet. But then, after warming up real nice, it starts to run ragged, sputtering on acceleration. THEN, the Volt meter will drop & the water temp will rise - both at the same time. Sometimes, they will even return to normal BOTH at the same time. Do they (water pump & alternator) run off the same belt? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

ok do you mean a punto bertone or i am missing something?

philistine! the punto cabriolet was still sold as a fiat.

Bertone = x1/9.

yes water pump and alternator run off same belt. but if that wasn't working properly, it's usually accompanied by lots of squealing. though if it was running hot then could be the cause of the rough running hmmm....

have you tried connecting a seperate voltmeter to the battery an electronic one, as i know my gauges in the car play up when low on power, and also electric ones show up the quick changes to the voltage.
