Hi everyone! I am in need of a new cable pin that fits into the BCM terminal connector. I accidently damaged when installing a wiring kit for a towbar. Anyone knows what the specific type of pin is called?

Kind regards

Hi Fredrik,
Welcome to the forum. If you look closely at the connector, you should find the maker's name. Searching their online automotive catalogue can identify the connector, and hence the correct pin.
On another thread a member recently reported purchasing small quantities of connector pins from "Mouser" in the USA who are specialist supplies. Another possible source is Ebay. which I have used.

Thanks for quick reply, internet is fantastic for find knowledge and help!

The terminal connector looks like attached pictures. The manufacturer of the BCM connector seems to be "DELPHI" . But I can't find the pin type to order?

Kind regards

Fredrik

It's a Delphi of course, now Aptiv "Duotwin 0.64 female"

But out of stock there , and by the looks of it, obsolete

You might find another supplier given the info and part numbers , but otherwise it'll be finding a scrapper loom.

Other solution is to hard-wire a single cable (preferably with a break connector (like a bullet etc) for future servicing/access), directly soldered to the appropriate pin on the PCB, and also splice into the cable, so you retain the multi-plug but still make that one damaged connector pin.

Hi ZaphodB!

Thanks, that seems to be the correct one :)
Googled but had not yet found a supplier where it is possible to ordder. Found one in Finland but it also says it is obsolete: https://www.mouser.fi/ProductDetail...NtAzbEaNeQ3-2PKkKe7mzvSCxmlJxVAXYyE6vMWF0lyLi

Strange that it can be found in a new vehicle when it is obsolete.

It's not the same , if you look at OP picture and this drawing (arrowed in yellow) , you'll notice an upright tab/ear of metal
It's a Duotwin 0.64

The tab is there in the ref I posted. It's hard to see in the photo but it's clear in the datasheet.

Edit: Ah I see what you mean. Actually Mouser has 4 versions of this connector which can't be reliably identified from the photo, the difference seems to be the size of wire they're made for. I'm trying to make sense of it.

Ok, I believe it's one of the references in yellow, depending on the wire size in blue.

The one I posted earlier is the "lanceless" version, it's lacking the retaining clip. I think a slightly incorrect reference from the same family *might* be useable as a last resort if a crimp can still be made and care is taken to secure the pin while connecting; to be determined...

I must admit I guessed at the 0.64 size, it could be the 1.5 size , it's just the tab width (in mm) - just measure it to confirm.
(The guess was based on looking for the 60way connector block https://www.automotive-connectors.c...y-MTS-0.64-Unsealed-Female-Connector/15414209), which specifies 0.64

and yes it definitely needs to be the lance version, (which is the tang or barb to lock it in)

I think the easiest way round your damage maybe will be to overide it with a separate wire soldered direct as mentioned earlier., at least to get you going for now.

You can get more info (and easier to read ) from here: https://www.tti.com/content/ttiinc/...zeH-5lSDMGItnBdG6v4Fa7xx2khz-zu87La-cuucGvSLk

I wrote to Erich Jaeger the supplier of the towbar electrical wiring kit. The connector pins in the BCM connector should be replaced with the ones in the kit so I hope they can send me one as a spare part.

Hi Zaphod! You guessed right about the size of the connector. I measured and it is a Duotwin 0.64 female. In the towbar kit there was an extra cable to be used if there was a need to deactivate the rear parking sensors, which my vehicle does not have. I cut off that connector with a piece of cable. Problem solved. If I then get a spare connector from the supplier I can use it if I install parking sensors. Thanks everyone for the help on this 🙂👍🏻.
