Driving round last night for about 2 hours then the car stalled. Tried to start it, didnt but the batterys was alsmost completely dead, it was turning the engine once every two seconds.

So i bumped it with a few mates and it started fine. I turned the pc/inverter/amp/heated rear window/blowers etc off, drove around for a bit, turned the car off and back on again and it started fine.

Do i need a new alternator, an uprated alternator or is it something else?

I have a brand new high amp battery.

No warning light came on the dash so the voltage to the battery from the alternator was fine.

When the battery goes the alternator almost always follows it out the door and visa versa (sp?).
