hi again
my Giardiniers has no battery clamp and it seems, no fixings for one;
Can anyone please point me in the direction of what parts I need to fit one - assuming indeed that there was once one fitted.
thanks

evening Geoff;
Until recently, I don't think that the battery had to be 'clamped' for the MOT which would explain the lack of a clamp on your battery. This has now changed, and the current MOT rule insists that it is clamped securely. You will have to play this one by ear, bat basically you will need a couple of threaded rods, turned up at the bottom (to locate them), threaded at the top with 'butterfly nuts' and a length of bar, flat (if you restrain across the top) ot angle bar (if you restrain on an edge). You may have to drill a couple of holes to locate the rods. Pop down to your local garage/accesory shop and try and have a look at a variety of cars to see how they do it---thet should also be able to advise on layout required. Do NOT forget to keel the bar and the positive terminal isilated from each other!! (y)

I use heavy rubber bungee cords on mine. Don't know if this will satisfy your MOT though.
