My new Cinq has inspired me start acting like a teenager again and doing various mods! I'm keen not to change the looks drastically or to make it run like a dog so want to keep it mild but give it a few more HP and improve the handling/looks a bit. Would appreciate any advice before I waste money on stuff that'll make it no quicker/better handling but deafening/undriveable/unreliable. Was planning...

K&N57i kit? - but a bit worried that it might be annoyingly loud?

Lowering 40mm - easy enough DIY job? Is 40mm about right for a subtle change?

Performance exhaust - Janspeed? Again worried about making it ridiculously loud...

Fiat 20v Coupe Turbo Steering Wheel - these look cool but not sure if it'll fit?

Anything else you reckon I should do straight away for more umph or better handling?

The K&N i was looking at is different to the one in the guide on here which is a chrome thing sitting straight on top of the engine - the cone is situated towards the passenger side headlight and joined by a thick pipe? (like all 57i's?)

Still no good? How much do those GSR's go for?

They're not cheap. Somewhere there's a post by Old School who makes them. A couple in the classifieds, though. Everyone uses them (even me) and, although I'm skeptical about some of the claims, they're generally acknowledged to be excellent. Probably cheaper than the K&N, too!

The K&N 57i is exactly the same layout - but you reckon these are much better?

Couldn't see any GSR's in the classifieds - did a quick web search and they're about £100 new - about double the K&N.

Any thoughts on the coupe turbo st/wheel?
 
no there not

Oh right - I've been mislead by a photo somewhere which claimed to be a 57i and had the thick tube leading to a cone filter in the same position. So a GSR's definitely the one to get then?

Thanks for the advice everyone - can anyone tell me who on here makes them? I had a look for 'old school' in the users list and found 'old school 749'?
