Hi,

Can someone advise? Is the speaker behind the seats merely a bass woofer or is it blown? The manual doesn't really explain.

(Also thought you'd all like to see some up to date photos of my lovely new beauty!)

Woofer fitted as standard or an option? My X reg LBB has the cheapest / nastiest speakers outside a '90's Skoda and no box on the back bulkhead.

Not much into audio in the B..too much other noise..like the induction roar and the song of the tailpipe..

Hi and welcome to the forum! (y)

I recognise the b - looks like lanciaman's car!

The tweeters in the door are a std fit on all b's, the sub-woofer box is quite hard to come by, Stu's suggestion of replacing all of the speakers with Infinity 6010 CS reference units is a good one, I have them in mine and the difference is like night and day over the FIAT speakers....

Nope it was mine

I did say it was going to a good home though (y)

I want to upgrade the speakers also but i have some hesitations.

i’m convinced about the quality of the Infinity 6010 CS reference units but I’mgonna need an amplifier also right? How many watts and where I’m gonna fit it.

The “under the passenger seat” solution is denied because in rainy days this spot gets some water.

The only solution I have is back at the trunk because i rarely use it but I will have to get some wiring there and I don’t know if it is easy or I’ll ruin the car.

What should I do?

I'm no expert but I think whether or not you need an amp depends on your headunit. I have a reasonable Sony unit which powers 4 Infinity Reference speakers and 2 tweaters via crossovers with no amp. It sounds pretty loud with no distortion and for me it's easily good enough, even on the motorway with the roof down.

If you have the standard Fiat headunit then I guess you would need an amp.

i have a pioneer unit with 4x25 rms (i think) mosfet amp-like chips.

the db it produces over standard fiat speakers is respective for my ears. the quality though is very poor due to the quality of the speakers.

so if we say that i'm ok with the volume that means i don't have to add an amp?

Lee, the offer for you to borrow my spectacles still stands. Don't give us that old excuse about excessive computer use ruining your eyesight - we all blame it on that but we know the real reason!!! :D

 I have no idea what you mean!! :p

I am running a 4 x 25 rms Alpine head unit and no amp - sound quality is great and there is no distortion (as you would expect!), I am planning on fitting a set to my wifes Zafira at some point.

is it easy to fit the speakers and the tweaters? i mean i can do it on my own or i have to hire someone to do it for me?

though not many techguys have messed with a barchetta before and i don't want mine to be the labrat :D

You can do it yourself but you will need to take the centre consul apart and do some wiring. It is not a difficult job - just a fiddly one, in fact I have some photo's somewhere of me doing the work, if I get the chance I will post them up.

I got a local car audio shop to do mine and they did a great job - everything is invisible with the crossovers mounted on top of the transmission tunnel behind the dashboard and the speakers and tweaters behind the original speaker grills. I replaced the speakers in the sub box myself which was easy, the trick part was actually fitting the box in place.

As LRB says, its fiddly. But if you're confident, give it a go(y)

LRB if you find the photos please post so i get familiar with the screws and the wiring in there.

Then i'll see if i can do it or not.
