Hello All,

I am curious if anyone is having the same issue with signal in a mk2 punto as its happened on all stereos I have had in the car, Had a Beats stereo which had bad signal and was temperamental so I gave up and invested in a more expensive one which is a Ripspeed DV740 which if you are in the city (Norwich) its fine picks up all stations but when you are around the local area (cromer, holt, sheringham) you just get poor signal most of the time.

I am wondering if there is a way to make the signal better? Bare in mind that I have a new headunit and also purchased a new aerial to try resolve this issue.

Buy a new aerial, they fracture at the base leading to signal problems, a new one with base is about £10 and is replaced by taking the interior light out and undoing the nut on the bottom

If the aerial is short, it is likely to be amplified, taking a power supply from the radio when it is switched on. Some use 12v, usually the feed from the blue wire originally intended for an electric aerial. Check this is connected. Some use a reduced voltage, 5v I think, so hanging off the back of the radio amongst the wires is a metal tube in the aerial cable, with a small feed wire from that blue one.

Possibly, original radio or aerial gave up. Replacement radio may not have the feed connected.

As well as the base connection breaking, as described above, the mast will also fracture internally if you have mascot on it. The mickey mouse head, or similar that people place on the aerial tip will flex it back as the speed increases, flexing the internal rod too much leading to breakage and a crap signal.

Ok thanks I will give these a go see what happens, I did have a small tube like thing connected but the blue wire on it wasn't connected to anything this is how it came when I got the car.

If I was to connect the tube like thing back and connect to blue wire on headunit? this should work? as is incorrect fitting for headunit but sure there is a adapter i can get.
