Technical Bad Condensation

Hi All

Strange one here...my wife's Multi is suffering from extreme levels of condensation...windscreen was replaced less than 12 months ago by Autoglass and the new window they fitted didn't have the mirror inbuilt as the original did. I'm pretty sure I can feel a faint breeze coming through the seals of the window as well. The amount of condensation that she's getting now is ridiculous, the only way to keep the front windscreen is clear is to keep the fan on full and wipe it with a cloth but this doesn't clear the side windows - it's that bad. The only way to clear the side windows is to keep the windows open - hardly ideal when its chucking it down or freezing cold & driving down the motorway!

Can anyone confirm whether or not there is a rubber seal around the windscreen as there isn't one there now, and I'm pretty sure that there was?

I've gone back to Autoglass to get someone to come out & take a look but any thoughts/comments would be useful/

I take it the ventilation systems on fresh air intake and hasn't been popped onto air recirculate has it

Could also be the heater matrix failed. I've had that happen to me before and the condensation was due to the soaking wet carpets!

Hi gents...the air circulation is on fresh air - how would I know if the heater matrix had gone? The heater is blasting out hot air without any issues so don't think that's the problem?

Coolant level would drop if matrix was leaking. Might be worth checking the level.

Just a thought but do you have sunroofs? Both of our Multis are suffering from a lot of condensation due to water ingress through them.

Nope, no sunroof...at a loss as to where all the condensation is coming from...

Have you checked the carpets for moisture? If there's moisture in the carpets it's coming from somewhere and you can work from there.

Play a hose over the car (windscreen area seems favourite) to help you locate the problem.

Also, do you use the the aircon to defrost/demist? This works well as it dries the air but if the drain from the evaporator is blocked then all the moisture you've taken out has nowhere to go, if you're running aircon you should have a small puddle of water under the car in the area of the bulkhead.
