Back Window Heater Lines

My little black lines on my back window are not working. The light on the button comes on but nothing happens to help clear the window. i have looked at it closly and in places it looks although it has burnt out, Is that possible? and if it is can i mend it or will i need a whole new one?
I could really do with fixing this as my back wiper is so intermittant i never know if its going to work so somtimes i can bearly see out of the back!

Could it be the contact plates in the boot ???

Where the metal prongs connect to the boot when you close it, as far as I knwo it provides power for the wiper and window heater, so you could check and see if they are damaged in any way ?!?

yeah thats what it will be i have just changed the contacts on mine they cost 15 pound from the fiat dealer and it took about 10 minutes

Would they have a similar problem to toy train tracks, my lil bro had one and its not working at the moment, and we are going to get sandpaper and rub all the metal because of "oxy somthing", my dad told me but i can't remember, would it be somthing similar in the car?

After you rub down the tracks with a bit of sandpaper or wire wool use a 2p coin and rub it over the tracks to get a better contact for the train.
