Technical Axle inner boots

I have been trying to find inner D/S boots for my Uno.
I am fitting a later gearbox, bottom shift linkages, to my 84 Uno.

The inner boots I have had supplied are for the earlier model. The later model has a bearing on the D/S and the boots go on the outsicde of that bearing. This is different from the earlier model, which runs a seal on the D/S and the seal seems to leak from new.

Our friend in Cambridge seems to be still in Europe still so I am trying Repco.

Are these boots easy to source?
The left side should be able to fixed with a stretchy boot, but the right side is different from the left and is a mix of the old style and new style.

I wonder if any of this makes sense!!

As a work around I was going to fit the later tripod bearings to the older D/Shafts but the circlip does not seem to go on. It looks as if it should but the later tripod bearings must be fraction wider.

Note: And how does the bearing on the driveshaft come off, I do not want to wreck it by hitting it!! I might not get another!!

Anotyher note: In the photo the later style Right D/Shaft and boot, and below it the older style boot.
You can 'just' see that the newer style D/Shaft has a larger seal which has a bearing as part of it, whereas the earlier style boot only has a seal that runs on the shaft.

Interesting, I have got the tripoid bearing on one of the the older D/Shafts and the circlip goes on fine. On the other D/S the circlip will not go on with the later larger tripoid bearing.

On another note, I think the new style stretchy boots will work fine on the left side D/Shaft. So I will have the good later style shaft with the good axle seal on one side and the older not so good style seal, the right side. That is until I get the right seal for the newer style D/Shaft.

Oh well mobile again now.
I hope the "stretchy" boot stays put!!

Not just as simple as I thought, but I am still going to hunt for the right boots!

And I did not say The tripod bearing only goes on one way, that is why I could not get the circlip in. One side has a champher, the other side, that goes towards the circlip is FLAT!! What a lot of messing around to find that out!

Our 'friend in Cambridge' has someone holding the fort while he is away, so if you call during the week, you should still be able to get the boots you need. Both types (bearing-type and early-type) are in stock.

Thanks alex, I spoke the the man holding the fort.
I got an outer and an older style inner.

Not to worry, I have it going but will get back to him this week and let him know they have both types!
