Aviva app could save you money

Aviva app could save you money

Hmmm, Went to download the app today to give it a go & it's really getting slated, people reckoning they're the best driver in the world only getting low scores.
Another downside seems to be that you have to hand over your firstborn to Aviva - OK, not quite, but they seem to want to know a lot about you (probably so they can bombard you with spam & calls etc).

My initial thoughts were that this app could be a great idea - especially if your phone gave real-time indications of 'bad driving' (obviously some 'expert' has decided what constitutes)- maybe in terms of a bar graph showing the different values, try to drive so all the bars are green, maybe the odd yellow & no red.

Got 7.8 out of 10 with the Aviva Drive app :)

I can confirm that it will separate the 'I think I'm good' drivers from the good ones though.

Not sure what they're on about with Aviva wanting more info, they ask less on a quote than confused.com. Tell them you don't want to be on any mailings and you won't be added to any :)

I was thinking about this app after I drove round today. I had three drivers pull out directly in front of me, forcing me to brake plus one who set off from a roundabout so fast that I had to pull up sharpish. Plus a muppet in a taxi alongside me who wanted my lane as well as his, forced me to mount the kerb to avoid collision.
I reckon the app'd have me down for a low score with all that hard braking & jolting. And that's another thing, some of the roads round here are in an appalling state - would all that bumping & bouncing be counted against you? (not forgetting all the speed bumps we have!)

The app only uses GPS measurements, not giro sensors within the phone (y)

As per other thread I gave it a go.
I was surprised I didn't do better than 7 scored.
It offered me 10% extra discount on my quote.

I suppose it doesn't take into account driving along narrow single roads with passing places where you some times have to brake hard as someone is coming the other way. It did criticise my braking sometimes.

Sludgeguts, I reckon you'd be kicked in the nuts score wise with the situations you were in, and ironically got a better score by ploughing on through the other cars.

The best way to gain a good score is to get on the motorway, set your cruise control at 60mph and carry on for 200 miles.

Still. Worth having a go just for the £20

Well, being a Yorkie & looking out for a bargain, I tried the app whilst at work, got 7.8 so shaved 10% off a quote. Also got a 20% online discount plus an extra third off for multicar AND went through a cashback site which is saying I should get £70 back later this month.

sweet (y)

My eldest is coming in with the multicar, he's getting rid of his 52 plate polo for an N reg, 2.5 litre landy with bullbars, winches & all sorts of lumps bolted on & the quote for him was the cheapest he's ever had.
