Hi,

I have a Fiat Punto 2002 reg with an automatic gearbox. It gives a beeping sound when in reverse (like a lorry) but that's normal. However, it started to randomly beep at me when I indicate left or break. Not all the time, but more or less once or twice during each journey. In addition I can hear a click almost every time I break coming from the gearbox and had the gearbox warning light on twice since this problem started a week ago.
The car drives fine but it obviously isn't right. Anyone has come accross anything like this?

Thanks

Most auto boxes click when braking this is the selector solenoid clicking which locks the selector in park or neutral till you have your foot on the brake

Where does the beep come from? Dash? Gear selector? Etc do you get a warning on the display or the gear box light when the beeping occurs

I have a feeling there may be two problems here

Hi,

I took it to a garage (just my usual, local one) they said they had cleaned the plugs, etc, but could not find the fault and therefore advised me to get in touch with an automatic transmission specialist.

Unfortunately, this clicking noise occurs while the car is in drive and clicks most of the time I break.

The beep comes from the same place as the reverse beep (wherever that may come from) but it's not constant like when the car is in reverse, just one or two beeps. No warning light pops up when the beep occurs, except those two occasions I've mentioned when I had flashing gearbox warning light. Once I turned off the engine and started the car again, the warning light disappeared.
