I’m in the process of converting my 1980 automatic spider 2000 (exported back to the UK from the US 5 years ago) from petrol injection to 32/36 Weber carburettor. Having investigated resurrecting the injection system I’ve decided this is the best route to go down for reliability reasons, cost and availability of spare parts. I’m looking for advice firstly on the carb set up.What size jets should be used in the Weber carb that are compatible with the 2 L engine and secondly has anyone already done this conversion? How have you dealt with the accelerator cable and automatic kickdown cable which were formerly connected to a drum like arrangement on the side of the injector housing with one cable coming from one side and the other the other side of the engine? Is there anyone in the US that makes an adapter mounting for these? or has anybody any photos showing how they have dealt with this?thanks for any help.

thanks very much Andrejs. That photo and earlier photos under the thread “kickdown”” with Slotman are very helpful. It looks like I am going to have to fabricate mounting brackets to do this job unless I can somehow obtain these mounting brackets off a scrapped US automatic. Your photos show both kickdown and accelerator cables coming from the same direction on the right hand (servo) side of the engine whereas my kickdown comes from the distributor side and accelerator from the servo side. I imagine I can reroute them both to come around from the servo side. Any suggestions as to where I could find these mounting brackets other than the usual suppliers who do not list them in the US or alternatively any more detailed diagrams or further photos from other angles would be really helpful if you have the time. Does anyone in the US know of a scrapped automatic 79/80 approx.(with carb) from which I could obtain these brackets thus enabling me too install a Webber 32/36 carb to replace the petrol injection which has failed.
