Hi All

i'm about to start building a class 1 autograss car, this class was previously only for 1000cc mini's but from april the rules change and now permit citroen AX 954cc and fiat Cinquecento 899cc alt ough the car and engine must remain standard

I've got a 1993 model which is to be the base of my project, i was wondering if anyone knows of any tips and tricks to squeeze every last drop of power out of the engine. The earlier 903cc engine is not allowed nor is the 1108cc or "fire" engine

any help would be greatly apreciated and if you would like to see what the sport is about visit http://www.eveshamautograss.com

all the best

God this brings back memorys cardiff & district auto grass not sure if its still going now load of memories perticaly the roll overs had plenty off them and written of cars gr8 times (y)

Unfortunately the regs on the website still say minis only. How far are you allowed to go, and is there a selling plate rule or anything silly like that.

General rules of tuning will still apply to the 899, although getting a new cam could be expensive.

Cheers

Hi mate im making a punto 1.6 8v stockhatch autograss racer:slayer:. the rules say for class 1 engine must remain in the origanal form meaning NO MODS:bang:
exhaust is free from the manifold meaning anything past the manifold and be messed with(y).... air filter is allowed..... stanard engine gearbox no lsd tyres are free and off you go ( stops peolpe from throuwing loads of money on there engine when other cant follow suit)

There is a huge difference between no mods and original form. Sure they can say it has to be original but that leaves a lot of scope for standard overbore, skimmed heads, etc.

The engine in my old race punto was supposed to be standard be we still got over 100bhp from it and that is at the wheels, not the flywheel. It took very careful selection of standard parts and a detailed assembly to make sure it all worked to perfection. Things like getting everything as close to balanced as possible with stock parts.

60 thou rebore is allowed isn't it? i had many wins back in the early 90's using a mk1 escort and then onto a fiat 128 then a lancia delta. you will love it honestly. think more about your driving than speed in class 1. camber the front passenger wheel out and get down demon tweeks for some colway grass tyres. stiffer suspension will speed your cornering and stop bounce throw. use class 1 as a foothold into motorsport but most of all enjoy it.
