I have recently purchased a 53 reg Ulysse 2.0 JTD Eleganza. The user manual is wonderful for making thins as clear as mud and just ignoring other things completely.
I have been trying to turn on the auto headlights feature. I have tried the key in position 'A' and every other position and holding in the auto button for up to a minute but nothing happens.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I also an't get the auto wipers to work properly. In the '0' position they just constantly work on an intermitent sweep every 20 seconds even in this ho dry weather. Maybe they know rain is due later in the week and are just getting in practice.

Any help would be most welcome.

Are you sure the sensors are there. Should be one on top of dash for lights and one on the windscreen for wipers. If it is an ex taxi with electric doors, many of the features were stripped out but still called Eleganza. I think it was because the electric doors could only be fitted to the Eleganza & Prestigio trim levels, so to keep them cheap they didn't fit all the Eleganza gadgets. There are a lot for sale on e-bay by dealers with this problem.

it's not an ex taxi and doesn't have electric doorsand didn't come from ebay. I brought it from a dealer. But the sensors are there, in the middle front edge of the top part of the dashboard.. maybe I am as mad as the car?

Note.. I just updated the Hifi to v5.5 so it plays my mp3s.. really nice touch.

One of the Fiat techs maybe able to help, but the fact they both don't work I suppose it is possible the body computer hasn't been programmed to identify the sensors.

Could need a visit to a dealer to be connected to Examiner.

I spoke to the Fiat garage today and the guy was kind enough to pull the specs for my car on his computer. He said he thinks they may have been disabled for the previous owner. So I guess it's a trip to the dealer to get them turned back on again.
Unless anyone knows a trick to do it?

I managed to reset the elec mirrors to fold when you lock the car.

Good call on finding out why it didn't work - looks like a session on the Examiner. When is the next service due, maybe they will do it FOC - OR if you bought it from them as well, it should be free anyway.

The electric mirrors are great :D

Service is due in 4000 miles but I normally take it to a family garage I have used for years. He's one of those 'you can't do a service properly unless you have all the wheels off' types. I know he has all the plug in computer stuff so I hope he can do it.
I have never been a fan of any main dealer and I have tried a few in my time.
I have fond memories of the 'chat' I had with one who actually gave me the car back after a 'service' with the dip stick trapped in the bonet.:bang:

Note- The nice Fiat man also confirmed the car had had all recalls that affected it and that they were done in April this year.
