Hello, I have a bit of a problem with my Cinq and just wondering if anybody can help?

I do enjoy listening to music in it and sometimes a bit louder than normal =] I have up-grated the speakers a while ago so apart from the two front ones I also have two 6x9 in the rear parcel shelf. I have also changed the cables to oxygen-free ones, they also come out directly from the connector in one piece, and they are of equal length.

I always used to have Sony radios but after some time they would cut off and restart over and over again until I disconnected and reset them or sometimes turning the volume right down would help. So recently I have put in a Pioneer radio and it was ok for a while until it also presented the same symptoms. That leads me to believe that there must be some kind of issue with the cars installation (I haven’t messed with anything). On my previous Sony it also blew a fuse(15A). I don’t have an amp or any thing like that and the battery I got is very very good.

Just wondering if any Cinq owners may have experienced a similar problem.

Somebody please help =]

If you are running 6x9s off the head unit, I would sugest you are over loading it. I have a cheap and nasty murphy head unit, no problems at all with it and im running two 500w 6x9s and a 1260w 12"sub.

I suggest you get an amp for the rears, was'nt too much agro to wire up.

I highly recommend the Alpine MRP222, get them on ebay cheap, and really good quality, that is what is running my sub [bridged of course].

The cinq is'nt a very forgiving mounting either, there is'nt alot supporting the rear of the head unit. Subsiquently you can get alot of movement that can cause havoc with the wires. If you are unsure, I would get two iso fittings, cut the wires back you need, run a fresh live from the battery [fused], and make sure the back of the head unit is supported. Look behind the head unit, you will usually see an m6 bolt, use that and some steel banding to support, or some rubber. If you use rubber make sure it does'nt cover any cooling holes.

Any more questions, post em up on ere.

Sorry, forgot to mention. Check the spec for the head unit, should give you a power output usually between 30-50w max output.

Now check the same for the speakers, dont listen to the max wattage, it is usually wrong. They are usually 50+ watts rms, that is aprox 250-350w max not 1000w like they print on them sometimes.
Restarting is probably the internal amp going into a safe mode.

Alpine make some 6x9s to run off the head unit, but they are advertised as that. Not like alot of other manufacturers.

Hi, The unit is a Pioneer DEH-30MP 50Wx4
The front speakers are: Pioneer TS-E1079 (10cm)110W MAX, 25W NOM, 4 OHM
The rear speakers are: Pioneer TS-A6910 (6x9) 330W MAX, 80W NOM, 4 OHM

Would this set up require an amp then? As I’m not too much into it and don’t know =]

Yep, the 6x9s u have will be ok with that unit IF u not push them hard, i have equale to those but mine are through AMP , a lot lot better :)

Ye could be the internal amp cutting out [clipping]. This would cause your system to switch off. Does it cut out at lower volume whilst driving?

Seriously, get a small amp, not just for loudness but for sound quality. Speakers running under power just cant compare. But be carfull, I started with a pair of 6x9s.

Now i've got the 12" sub 2 amps and a 1 farad power cap in the boot.

oops ;)

Yeap, it also cuts off when the volume is low sometimes, but I guess that’s because the internal amp is over loaded/heated? The Sony stereos take a bit longer to reboot but the Pioneer doesn't bother and goes into mute =]

Don't worry my front speakers are actually mini Kevlar subs with magnesium tweeters so the sound quality is cool as long as it manages not to cut off :)
