Well ive never had an issuse with my stilo before and hopefully this is just a once off.. But when i started it up the other day i just started driving off down the road and *ping* a message comes up on the little led display saying asr, esp failure! Now i pulled over to the side of the road turn it off and restarted it after and few seconds and all is fine! Is this the start of something? Anybody else had this problem? As if ive got to take my car to the dealer i want to get it sorted sooner rather than later as ive also just gone into the third year of my warrenty and i know the longer you leave it the less that is covered by the warrenty!

and another little thing with the stilo is ive noticed that on these cold morning with been having over the past few weeks that my gearbox is rather how do i put this stiff until it is warmed up slightly then it is ok again? Should this be like this is this just it getting frosty/frozen? I know i had a minor oil leek from gearbox when it went in for it second year service and it was repaired short after and since them the gearbx in general has been alot tighter/stiff but i just though this was because i had to run in it again and it would loosen up after time??

Cheers for any help in advance guys :) hope some can help me put my mind at rest lol

I think most of us have had the asr/esp on start up. Low battery voltage often seems to trigger it. As long as it goes off on the next start I wouldnt' worry.

As Stu says, the footbrake switch is a favorite too if your brake lights are permanently on. You only have to put your foot under the footbrake pedal and knock the pedal upwards and then your brake lights are on permanently. Duh. If they are then you need to take off the over driver's feet panel and pull down the switch plunger with a pair of pliers

Re gearbox, I should think most cars will have stiff gears in this weather until they warm up. The oil is like treacle. Does anyone use treacle these days?

i had the esp/hillholder/abs failer when i first had my punto hgt a year back. Sounds daft but after a few times back at the dealership without fixing, they rang me and asked me if they could try something even tho it was weird. They released some of the air con limit and guess what....fixed the problem.
