hi guys ,
some of you may notice from some time back that i have changed the instrument binnacle on my 1.2 8v from most basic speedo type to rev/temp gauge type.
thing was mileage on odometer was 3times that of original so instead of reading 37700 miles it now reads 110000. mileage didnt bother me at the time but nct/mot is beckoning again so must be corrected now.
it also required proxy alignment from fiat agnelli house which i had done the other day without any bother . they wouldnt "down mileage" though for obvious reasons .
got a guy out today to do mileage back but it wouldnt work . he says it cant be done....
is this true ??
surely fiat havn't done something that no-one else can do ?? or have they??
please someone advise as what to do .this is not for any underhanded nonsense but to keep history more or less correct is all . i have no intention of getting rid of my first car for quite some time!!(poor student/tight parents ensure this haha)

because clocks have been aligned to car now , if i put original back in it would involve another trip to fiat for re-alignment . ps i want to keep clocks thats in

you can clock these cars forwards but not backwards so by putting in a higher milage unit you are now stuck with the mileage which came with it. you could put the old clocks back which would be the most logical answer
or you will have to invest in another set of dials with a lower mileage than your car has then clock them forward to match the car. what ever you do you can not change the mileage backwards on your currently installed clocks to getting the thing proxi-aligned again is inevitable

or you leave it as it is and seriously damage the resale value of the car just for a rev counter and a temperature display
