Turning the girlfriends Punto into a little track car for her. Not interest in power as girlfriend and speed = dead :) but cooling concerns me. Just wondering if there are any upgraded radiators you can buy. As the original is as thick as a slice of toast

Are the HGT ones thicker and would it fit?

Cheers

Found the post by whitesei. It was just the HGT radiator he mentioned to use instead. It has 2 fans on it by the looks of it so may need a slight wiring adjustment aswell

At the worst all it would need is a short length of steel tube to extend one or both hoses.

Ive never upgraded a radiator just replaced the HGT rad. I got it from VJS Components in Stoke for £110 - lots less than Shop4parts.

On a track car it probably wouldn't matter if the standard 8V rad is fitted. At speed the airflow will be more than enough to keep the little engine cool.

Before spending, take the car for a fast drive, stop and feel the coolant return pipe. If its cool the rad is big enough.

Look at bike radiators. They dont have a car body to force feed the air yet with engines making 100+bhp the rads really are tiny.

Fair enough will stick with the standard rad for now and see how it goes :)

Thanks for the reply and PM reply WhiteSei (y)
