Just registered so not upto date with my knowledge of the tjet
Are they safe to map to the know 155bhp 190 tourqe
Without changing the turbo ? Really cautious on this as I don't have the money if it goes bang ! Haha
All replys would be great wanna start my project :)

Hmm haha I
Would I have to get the arbarth box or ? Let's be fair a fiat box isn't the most reliable
Well it's not I carn afford it's just I got like my credit card bill from last car so tryna do it different way haha

Hi, and welcome,

I believe the engine / turbo will be o.k. , as it's the gearbox that will let go 1st..,
bottom line,
if you can't afford to tinker..don't!!, ;-}

Okay well I'd be happy to take it to 155 also wat ever induction kit intercooler etc give hopefully January I start the project :)

You are all getting your gearboxes confused. The t-jet has a five speed box which doesn't give trouble; plenty of people have t-jets mapped to 170 (with vl36 turbo) and the gearboxes are fine. Its the m32 gearbox fitted to the m-jet (and abarth - but its ok on those) that go wrong.

As I just mentioned, lots of people have their t-jets mapped to 170bhp on a vl36 turbo and everything copes ok. The only unknown is whether the standard vl37 turbo will cope. Its only small and tends to run out of puff, some say its limited to about 140bhp, some say a bit higher; either way a remap will give loads of mid range torque but a less impressive top end.

you would've got a thanks for clearing that up,(y)

cheers,

Thanks a lot you've made my decision a lot harder now then haha I might invest in the vl36 turbo

Sorry I'm new to this haha I'm guessing standard tjet turbo is the vl37?
Abarth is Vl36

Abarth is Vl36

Correct.
There is also the vl38 from the fiat 500 abarth but the vl36 is prefered and more common (its on the bravo t-jet 150s too).

If I recall, a couple of months ago someone posted a thread having had a re-map on the standard vl37. Use the search function to find it.

Just been offered power/economy map adds 25-30 bhp and said will be safe for standard turbo and will help fuel for £175 should I or. ?

I'd say just get an upgraded turbo (around £240 used) and get it fitted. I had the abarth 500 turbo fitted last year (vl38) and run it on my punto with the standard map for atleast 4-5 months and then I finally got it remapped. It was making 160bhp with just the new turbo and then with a remap 183 (hence the name lol).No point wasting money on remap for standard turbo imo...

Oh and I got it remapped at AHM and would recommend that place. Very good service and the blokes defo knew what they were dealing with since they are alfa romeo and fiat specialists.

It's just I don't really wanna put a lot of money into this car I just wanna keep it for 1-2 years to get something else
So I might just get this done
Don't feel comfortable putting lot of money into a fiat

strange outlook, ;)
it's a relatively reliable car that was relatively cheap to buy..,
unlike a VW that is expensive to buy, and no better ( maybe worse ) for reliability..,(n)

I'd assumed you'd gone for a GP as it was a cost effective way to experiment with mild tuning
especially with your "I don't want to spend much" posts
