are T-mobile any good?

I suppose working with x amount of people every year you are going to get glitches in the systems that are in place. Pushing alot of people away from a certain network weather it be T-Mobile or Vodafone. You also get alot of people who jump on the band wagon, just coz thay like to complian (Not aimed at anyone on here before you say anything). Dont forget you cant please every.
I have been with O2, for a short period of time and i am sure by the end of it some small problem is going to happen:bang: because things will and do go wrong. Thats the way it is. You just have to let them solve it as best they can. Your best going for the Network that is best for you i.e Net coverage in your area, price etc.
HOPE THIS helps

Thing is with Orange, not much goes wrong, Very few grumbles or complaints in the 8 years I have been with them, although that said all problems have been in the last two.

But when it does go tits they seem to get it right quick.

I also only ring them after 10pm as I get through straight away (a trick I learnt in working in call centres that never close!)

Problem is everyone on O2 moans about them, people on Voda say the phones are ruined with the Live! stuff. Orange anf T-Mobile are really the best of a bad bunch.

Im not really up for going near 3 just yet!

I live in Wigan and I'm on T Mobile on the U Fix Text plan thingie. I've not had any problems with them ever. I find topping up easy because once you have set up your nominated credit/debit card all you do is send a message thing on the phone and it's done :)

My mum is on o2 and never has anything but trouble with them. o2 are really the only company I hear people complain / moan about though.

After dropping my Orange PAYG K700i in a pint of bitter on my 19th birthday, I've been on the lookout for a new phone. I spent most of today in Hanley visiting every phone shop in existence and came out with a spanking new Sony Ericsson W810i on T-Mobile. All contracts were 25% off, and for £28 a month (£6 of which is insurance, so I'm protected against future phone swimming incidents) I get a heap of minutes and texts, which, thanks to the Flext contract, balance up nicely according to usage.

Due to the phone being so sought after and the offer on the contract I could only manage to squeeze another £10 off, meaning the handset cost £20.

I'll report back on what I think next week. At uni reception is good for seemingly every network, but back home coverage might not be so favourable. Orange struggled to muster reception anywhere other than by bedroom windowsill (at a certain angle) and O2 weren't much better.

Impressed with the customer service and deal I got so far, hopefully the reception will also be favourable. :)

We sell loads of T-mobile (about 30% of our sales this week where Tmobile and last month it was 50%. In the top 20 tariffs at the moment there's not one single Orange rodent, or fish or what ever they call those stupid offers.)

Tmobile suits everyone cause they allow you credit to spend on what ever you use as apposed to Orange who try and super pigeon hole people customers into ridiculous segments.

Unfortunately when it goes wrong most networks are poor at sorting out (real) problems. I know that's just my opinion cause 20 times a day for the last 8 years someone will walk up to me and say "I'm on Tmob/orange/fresh/virgin/o2/voda/3/drugs and I've got a problem with....." and none of the call centres that I phone are any better at fixing dud bills, wonky sims or dodgy direct debits....

Sad but true of many things in the UK at the moment...

So true, the best balance of calls to texts was topping up £10 a month on PAYG and getting 300 free texts per month. All of the monthly plans were pathetically imbalanced, the plan I *would* have upgraded to had 100 minutes and, er, 1000 texts.

"Usually students think "1000 texts, I'll have those!"" said the phone trainer. Well we're not all the same dear.

Anyhoo, the phone's come off charge and I took it out with me tonight, it's very schnazzy indeed and kept a signal for most of the night in a club which usually gives phones a hard time. Crunch time is tomorrow when I go home, if I can't get satisfactory reception the phone is going back!

im with BT the house phone company. they wrote to us about a year and a half ago saying we were priveledged customers and wanted to give us this cheap contract.so we took it. 6 months ago i rang up to cancel it becuase wasnt large enough. the guy offered me a larger contract half price for 6 months and could cancel after the 6 months so i said fine. 6 months later ive tried to cancel it this week and they are saying im in a 12 month contract and its £157 charge to cancel.

i have orange 1000 free text messages, free orange to orange calls after 7pm 12hrs free wap all for a 10er a month.

i also have genie 02 sims for sale, 300text messages 100picture messages and free unlimited wap. topup £10 a month

also
Vodaphone
orange sims

all with £3 credit on sim regestration, want any make me an offer. all o2 come with optional phone code to avoid topups :)

News today...

Orange have just pulled they're super stupid 10 million quid 'Animal' ads!

It's time orange went back on the wacky backy and put a few more elephants outside the front gates!

Go on, somebody ask me about the 'Evil' Rac building and the Elephants!

Jim

No, they offer you something, you sign the contract, and then they deny all knowledge of offering you something... leaving you with a contract for 12 months that they will not cancel.

You phone them, and you just get snotty bastards on the end of the phone.

Bitter? Just a bit.

Well the W810i has had a thorough workout this weekend, taken some lovely pictures with it (albeit no match for a proper-lensed digicam) and I've been very impressed with network coverage. Kept a signal for *most* of the time I was in the house, and the same can be said for when I was in 5th Avenue in Manchester.

All in all very happy. One question to those in the know, though - if I was to update the firmware on the phone to original Sony Ericsson fare (with the proper menu animations etc) would I be invalidating anything?

And it's not really a match for an Ipod either but it's a lot handier than carrying round 3 separate devices and my K750 is now up to 2GB memory so it's not far off a real MP3 player.
BTW, you can get real 'Flashes' for the Sony Ericsson's phones now. I took this pic of Kerri the night we where out on my birthday. (she's got a funny look on her face as I'm about to walk into a set of metal railings!) Not bad for pitch black on a mobile phone....
(you should look at an Fm converter for it too so you can play music in the car. Means that Splutter can be all 21st century with his 80's radio)

Anyway, back to your question... You can put what ever software you want on the phone (one of our boys has W800 Walkman software on his K750). If you ever have to leave it in for repair 'apparently' our engineers computer can tell if it's a Tmobile branded phone and then they update the software to the most current version but it would be a Tmobile variant and would come back with Tmob menu and such....

I've never seen it as all our phones come with generitic GSM software and not Network menus but I've seen 'unlocked' phones being sent off for repair come back with the lock back on cause the update re-set the sim lock:(

Cheers Jim. The K800 has a xenon flash like most normal cameras, instead of the LEDs used at the moment.

I have noticed the LEDs on mine flash on and off after about 20-30 seconds of being on which seems pretty erratic to me. I'll be popping to the T-Mobile shop on Wednesday to see what they make of it and I'll ask what what they make of putting the original firmware on (I want proper menu animations!).

And I've hardly used it to play music yet, mainly due to the software pissing me off. The cut down version of PhotoShop on the software has defaulted itself to everything so I uninstalled it. I think I'll just use the memory card reader on the PC in future, much less hassle. :)

The K800 is 3G and won't be round till July and is only tri band so is no use to anyone driving Sylvia! (work it out! hehe)

Don't bother asking about firmware with Tmobile... They will tell you that by doing a firmware swap that it will turn your phone in to HAL from 2001 and it will hunt you down while you sleep and eject you out an airlock, also invalidating your warranty at the same time.

Your warranty is with Sony Ericsson, not the shop you bought it in nor with TMoible. Just keep your receipt and you can get warranty service anywhere.

When I went on to Tmobile I just got an N70, flogged it on Ebay and then used the cash towards a W810... But by that time we where out of them so I'm still waiting on Simfree stock:(

And finally, stick to the memory stick reader, it's much faster for transferring stuff. Last night it must of swapped about 100 songs in about 3 minutes so you can't really beat that for speed and also any pic's you take you can upload direct from the card to the net without having to store them on the hard drive first.

I'm a bit of a memory card fan in phones!
