General Are Stilo's prone to going through a lot of parts?

3 months 52 plate stilo

1 crank shaft pulley
2 coil packs
2 spark plugs
3 Wiper Blades
2 Headlights
1 full beam
1 passanger Headlamp
1 bonnet
1 Cam Belt
I been getting fuel sensor fault since i had my car shows up if theres is under £10 quid petrol in the car

1.9Jtd, Oil & filter, Fuel filter. Egr valve under warranty, 2 front tyres and the Complete numberplate light unit.

All in 13 months and 36,000 miles.

I've had a few things go bang on my Stilo Abarth in the last 3 years:
(in no particular order)
Alternator
Battery (went due to alternator failure)
ECU
Complete Engine Replacement (due to Oil injectors in head packing up)
Aircon Evaporator Unit
Exhaust Manifold
Radio Head Unit

I calculated the other day that in 40 months, my car was at the dealer a total of about 4 months just for repairs. That excludes having to wait for 8 months for a new Aircon Evaporator unit, because 4 got lost during shipping (don't ask, I don't know how).

When the car runs, I love it. When it breaks down, I want to take it along on my next scuba dive and park it at the bottom of the ocean.

When I eventually get my radio back from being repaired (been waiting 3 weeks), I will definitely be looking at trading it in.

1 engine
3 gearboxs
1 diff
5 coilpacks
1 brake light switch
1 fan resistor
1 door panel
1 oil pressure sensor
1 map sensor
1 inlet control valve
1 altenator
countless diagnostics reports
and still have airbag warning..

how does tha sound.. oh the eingine is out of a punto 1.2 elx and has a punto 1.2 8v 5 speed box.. alot faster wid the 5 speed too..

In the 4 months ive had the stilo:

- Front wipers
- Front brake pads
- Cambelt kit
- Throttle body cleaned and diagnostic check (engine fault light was on)
- Full service with plugs, air filter etc
- New exhaust
- New passenger side interior door card
- New passenger side mirror cover & painted
- Front bumper painted due to scrape on corner
- A real lot of cleaning and polishing!

The only thing which i consider isnt wear and tear and a stilo fault is the interior door trim. The stilo interior door grap handles are so flimsy, when i got the car the passenger handle had been pulled off and glued back on. So ive now replaced the whole door card and handle with a brand new one.

An intermittent fault ive had (which hasnt appeared for a while) is the car telling me i had a rear fog light fault, even though the fog lights were not turned on, and when i checked it they are still working fine.

So i can't complain, but its never been any problem up to now (touches desk!).

Its now feeling much better though, and its starting to look like new also :)

Wifeys 5 year old 1.2. 37k miles

Nowt really, tyres 1 set. wiper blades 1 set. spring catcher mod fitted.

Airbag warning was a bugger but I fixed that.

Good motor IMO (y)

bought second hand car... in 2 months,

1 Service
2 new front wishbones
New air con.. the whole damn unit
2 new tyres
new anti roll bar
New rear silencer
new flexi down pipe
new rear wiper

worth it i think!

I had my jtd for just under a year, but I put 40k miles on it, what parts I replaced due to failure?
0, nothing. not even a light bulb. It was a good car and I missed it, even I got the bravo 150mjet now, but I have to say the jtd is a much better car to drive.

That's disgraceful, even I managed to get through 3 glow-plugs and one brake light bulb (in nearly 3 years) :nerner:

Interesting, what you say about your 150Mjet vs remapped JTD115.

How does the power and handling compare?

yea, i know, sometimes i really wonder was it really a stilo? or was it a nissan in stilo clothing~~ :)
ok, the remapped jtd vs 150mjet. the jtd is quicker, a lot quicker i have to say, may be it got soemthing to do with the 6 speed gear box in the bravo.
Handling? my bravo is the sport version, it has a sportier suspension than standard bravo, so as my 3 door jtd. The braov has a harder ride compare to the stilo, less comfortable, however, I will say i can carry more speed going into and come out of a bend in my stilo than the bravo. the looks? .......i dont think i need to say more, was driving side by side with a 55 plate black 3doors stilo today near b'mouth airport, i wished i was in the stilo!!!
fuel? jtd= 52mpg, bravo= 45.......I still hope it will get better when I put some miles on it (7k on the clock atm.) did I mention I got rattles from the driver door, roof, dash and passenger door on my 4 months old Bravo? Overall, I wished I had keep my jtd...........

what i've had in 4 1/2 years ownership and 55k miles

gearbox x3
clutch (due to gearbox explosion)
brake pads front x2
brake pads rear x1
front tyres x 6 (6 sets of 2)
rear tyres x3 (3 sets of 2)
headlight bulb x2 in passenger side
rear sidelight bulb x1
wipers 4 sets
rear wiper blade
drop links
rear calliper anti rattle clips
fuse x5 before i give over buying them for the cig lighter as it keeps blowing them & i dont smoke
wheel trim x1
brake light switch x1 but repaired again since
pollen filter x1
exhaust flexi

and a windscreen after hitting an owl at 70mph

compare this to my seat ibiza i had previously and trust me, this isnt a lot of parts (gearboxes under warranty)

seat ibiza in 60k went through

two pistons
cylinderhead
head gasket
two batteries
alternator
engine mounts
spark plugs x8
dizzie cap
rotor arm
coil lead
coil
engine temp sensor
voltage regulation problems
gear knob
gear linkage bushes
clutch cable
tyres about 4 every 6 months
wiper linkage
light bulbs galore
a litre of oil every 3 weeks
exhaust - full system
wheel trim

numerous mornings with it not starting or cutting out in traffic jams

then, after 3yrs of ownership and just as i got it running right some tw@t killed it by rear ending it in a micra

The JTD in the last 22 months / 38K has, in terms of non fair wear & tear items gone through:

OSF Anti rollbar link & front sidelight bulb
(Under warranty when I first had the car ;))
NSF Spring & Anti rollbar links (Set of springs replaced & paid for by FIAT @ 50 months/36.5K - Result c/o Mrs WNWL! (y) Anti rollbar links as a precaution.)
NSR brake caliper guide pins (Somebody's previous ham fisted attempts to free seized caliper with brute force, heat & mole grips )
OCS pad in front passenger seat.
Weather strip bottom of NSR Door window replaced (curled up at leading edge )
Top glove box hinge - my own clumsy fault! not fixed to date

Otherwise new discs & pads - Front 40K & Rear 49K
Battery @ 5 years & 50K

Else just regular Fiatcare Gold servicing (+ recent cambelt kit @ 60 months / 55.5K) & a new set of wiper blades every year! Got 57K up now and engine still uses / burns no oil. Only other thing is fairly frequent tracking (every 3-4 months) but I am managing to get 21K out of a set of tyres (I tend to replace when between 2.5 - 3.0 mm tread remaining as beyond this both JTD and 1.6 5dr Stilo I had before feel less than sure footed!)

Thanks for making my day (y)

So are you local to me then as Bournemouth airport can't be more than 5 miles up the road ?
.

live in winton mate, not many stilos/ Bravo in our area have to say, even the local dealer is less than 3 miles from when I live, when I bought the bravo, my sales guy told me they sold a lot of 500s, Pandas and GPs, i think we will see more of fiats soon as they starting to deliver to their owners.
