on changing my front wheels to the backs i noticed on the passenger hub that where it appears it should have 2 threads coming through holding the hub together, that 1 thread hole is empty and the other appears to have a half threaded bar coming through, also i can move the disk forwards and backwards with just a small amount of pressure. on looking at svens brake replacement guide the picture their shows 2 studded bars coming through the hub. basically am i missing 1 bolt holding it together?, i wouldnt be surprised as i have found so much botchwork on this car in the 20 months i owned it including that it was written off in the past and i fell for the sellers lies who happened to be a non private seller.

If you mean the 2 screws that are sticking out from the hub to the wheel side, they are not obligatory.
The disc is truly kept in place by the wheel screws and not that 2 small screws.

As Sven says, only there to make wheel changing easier. The wheel bolts hold it
