Anyone used RainX on bodywork

Hey all, having read the threads on rear windows, I bought some RainX and it's great, the rain just falls off. I put it on half of my windscreen too to see if it really works and the rain just disappears. I barely need to use my wipers.

So then I thought, if I polished the car in it, would it stop it getting so dirty as the dirty rain would just fly off? Or would it damage the paintwork?

Has anyone tried it? What do you think?

Given that car wax is specially formulated not to damage paintwork and will do the same job if done properly, I imagine it would do some damage - feel free to try though

That's a bit different though

I was never all that precious about my 504 after I had a small accident and the beigeness was interupted by light metallic green

Rather I have better pictures but you can see me looking rather sheepish and eating a magnum ice cream whilst putting some oil in it

If you want something to give the paintwork a similar effect one of the cheapest combinations you can do is polish the car with this

then buff off then apply this

leave for an hour and buff off

and its still kicking water off very well quiet an underrated pair of products if you ask me..

Bought the Autoglym stuff today and spent 3 hours washing, polishing and glossing it. It looks beautiful.

I think I've turned into Lloyd!

It's raining now, so I'll have to do it all again tomorrow!

Nah you cant have turned into Lloyd if you had you would be outside trying to dry it in the rain



you wont have to do it all again tomorrow the sealant will last a long time (although a 2nd coat of Extra gloss protection tomorrow ((after a re wash and dry do not re-polish)) will give you longer lasting protection.... no more than 2 coats though or your wasting your time...


to keep it looking its best a bottle of Quick detailing spray...

so your next wash would be wash then dry then Quick detailer..

(spray on thinly no need to go mad with it 2-3 pumps for the entire roof spread out with 1 micro fibre, then and buff with another clean dry microfibre)

Does that Extra Gloss Protection stack with the AG Ultra Deep Shine polish? (just checking as you said in a previous thread it doesnt stack with some others)... not that im going overboard with polishing my car or anything :bang:

Edit: Just checked the other thread, you say it doesnt stack with Ultra Deep Shine.. oh well, saves me some money
