General Anyone ordered recently?

WTF?

Are you really so self centred to think that because they've not been doing anything with regards to your car that they've not been busy over the last 3 months?

Dealers are busy at the moment and if your car is not ready for Saturday it won't be ready.

I was wondering how long it would take for you to come back with one of your gems!!!

Sorry for expecting a service that I would offer a customer of mine, the only reason they are busy is due to customers if they want to keep them and get future custom then step up to the mark and deliver the very minimum. Self centred! Pot & kettle

Happy days (when car dealers match motorbike dealers the world will be a better place)

So you rush stuff out before it's been properly checked?

Getting car Saturday morning :D not sure how long you think they need to carry out the relevant checks but two days is more than enough time!

If I thought they could'int do it, I would not have asked.

It's good that you're getting your car early :) But like I said it's better that they do a proper job rather than a fast job and whilst it may only take a day or so to do everything when garages have big deliveries it can sometimes take longer for some cars to get sorted and that was all I was saying :)

Hello. Arrived back in England last week and picked up my car on the 30th. 12ish weeks it took. Nice it is too. The standard sound system is good with Dennis Brown and Lee Perry blasting out of it. Did anyone have the free 7 day insurance and if so how many days use of it after picking up your car did you get?

I know what your saying, the garage I am using is pretty small so I presume that will be the reason they have agreed saturday. Hope I am not counting my chickens though, the insurance certificate has still to get to them before 5pm today!!! :worship:

I have to agree. We were told that our Volvo will take a week from when it arrives to be ready for a pick up. We are paying a lot of money for the car so I would be happy to wait a bit longer so they can do a proper check.

Do they not offer the 7 day free insurance?

Insurance cert arrived, picked the car up this morning, sweet as a nut exactly what we ordered worth the wait :);):)

Will put a photo on when the rain stops (hope it does!)

Cheers for now.

:D

Beware of the 7 day free insurance - I think it's just to tax the car and not meant to be driven on. My one had a £500 excess and didn't cover commuting to work. I made sure my own insurance was changed over straight away and cancelled the free one.

When the quote for a years insurance arrived it was for almost £500 as well, Tesco managed to do it for £185.

It is most certainly meant to be driven on.

Sometimes insurance companies will quote you high because they feel you're perhaps too much risk for them or possiby just in the wrong group to possibly want to take on. Aviva gave me a decent quote at first but it wasn't quite as good as other quotes I'd got so I asked them to match my other quote which they did.

Perhaps so but that's very different from saying that it's only to tax the car and not to be driven on.

In my case (and I suspect other people's too, hence the warning) the free insurance is useless for driving the car as it does not cover commuting. I also found the excess to be huge. It does allow the garage to tax the car though.

However, if you do not commute and don't care about the size of your excess the free insurance will be fine for you.

You don't get what I mean.

When you say "The 7 day insurance is not meant to be driven on" you will scare a lot of the people on here who just accept what people write as being gospel. Like I said there's a world of difference between saying the insurance is not for driving on and saying that it doesn't cover commuting and that there's a big excess.

Hello all. Picked up my car on the 30th Oct took about 12 weeks. Could have had it in 11 if I'd been in the country. Drives well, bouncey bouncey over the speed bumps. Great. Or so I thought until I rang Fiat to ask the exact time my free 7 day insurance expired. I had to go to Israel just after I placed my order and me and the dealer were in contact via e-mail. I arrived back the day before my collection date. I was told the date the car would arrive at the dealers and was given the Fiat number for the 7 day insurance. Fiat told me that I would get at least 5 days of free insurance which would give me time to get my own insurance sorted out. I had driven the car for a few days then rang Fiat to get the exact time their insurance expired. I was told it had run out on the 29th. The day before I picked the car up. So I had driven from the dealers with no insurance. I would have been really in the sh*t if I'd had a bump. I remember on the way from the dealers, plod was behind me. If he'd done a PNC check then I would have had my collar felt. Fiat weren't very happy about and wanted to know the dealer and salesman. Kept apologising and said they would be in touch with the dealer. Apart from that the car is great

Hi, Happy with my car to but I wish my dealer had told me about this seven day insurance policy, it would of saved me £15 courier service and the time taken to get my insurance sorted out!!

Distant memory now
