Technical Anyone know what sensor this is...?

Hi All,

I've been having idle cut out/erratic rev problems recently, sometimes the car stalls.

I started taking apart the throttle body but noticed that the sensor was broken. Wire had snapped.

Any ideas what sensor it is and where to get one from - is it main dealer part only?

It's the MAF - mass airflow sensor. They're hella expensive and Fiat only.

Looks like asn HGT one? I have a few spare TB's for sale. If yours is cable operated you'll be in luck.

If not I'm fairly sure the MAF's are the same on Euro2's and Euro3's so I could remove one for you.

Spot on mate - it is a HGT (forgot to mention that im original post).

Im not sure what you mean by cable operated but my reg is PY51 AZO if that helps narrow down the model?

How much could you part with a MAF sensor?

When you removed the throttle body did you have to unclip a cable that operates the butterfly?

There was only 1 cable that i unclipped. It was the 3 pin one that goes back to the ECU i presume.

You have a euro 3 then. I'll check if they're the same sensors with Fiat and get back to you.

Ok, they're listed as different part numbers.

The MAF for both is ~£200, I'm not sure if that's normal price or my 20% discounted price with them.

They look exactly the same to me and the induction system is the same so it maybe worth trying the Euro 2 one, it's up to you though. All they do is take the flow and calculate based on it, a euro 2 and euro 3 don't have differing amount of air flow as far as I know as they're the same engine one yours has more sensors for emissions and it's fly by wire. I was after £60 for the TB.

Yeah mate it's complete - maf sensor, ICV, TPS etc.

I noticed you breaking your HGT thread - the picture of the Euro2 TB has a different Sensor on it. It has two connector sockets where mine just has one socket. So i assume mine is the Euro3?
