Hi all again well here i go as some of you know already ages ago I put some 13cm speakers in the dash where the standards tweeters were and they sounded great along with my subs but now are getting distorted really low down im hoping to re-wire whole system and was wondering if anyone had any tips firstly for doing it all as i dont know where to start.

Also ive just got some component speakers which i am hoping to run from an amp with my 6x9s that leaves only one set of speakers not amped is it possible for me to combine the rear and front negatives and then positives to one set of speakers to give them more power. any ideas about the matter are much appreciated Cheers all Danny

What make speakers did you fit up front?

You could combine the fronts and rears like that but I REALLY would not do it. Different types of speakers have different sensitivities so you really need to be able to set the volume for each set on their own.

Run the 6x9's from the head unit or just throw them away completely :) Amp the front speakers and the sub. Just as an experiment try listening with the 6x9's turned off.

i had pioneer 13cm up front not sure what ones exactly i think about 160 watt 2way but ive now got some alpine components to go there but i want these amped i was going to run some sonys i got for the rear standard fitment from the head running from the front and back as these would be the only ones not amped.

Re: Re: Re: Another1 for the great Tom or if u have some knowledge of I.C.E

Sounds like a plan. You get 80% of the sound from the front speakers so amping them will give you the best results. Rear speakers just add some fill, no need for much power.

I now have the cable and sound deadening for my install, just got to get fitting :)

i want a proper install but i have forked out so much recently on my hlx until after xmas i cant afford it my girlfriend is getting me some lowering springs for my b-day next week so i want those on aswell. im pretty handy with the tools so im considering doing my install myself. what set up are you goin to have also ive got 1 amp wiring kit for my subs amp and now ive got another amp where is the best place to run the power cable as ive ran the other one under the car on the spare clip going down it.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Another1 for the great Tom or if u have some knowledge of I.C.E

I'm putting about £2k of sound into the car. :) I'd never run a power cable outside the car, they are not that strong.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Another1 for the great Tom or if u have some knowledge of I.C.E

i currently have 6x9's in the rear but come christmas time ill have a 800w 12" in the boot.
I am selling my 6x9's as i dont think they'll be needed and from toms advice.

Tom- when you say make sure you have good speakers in the front would you class these as good speakers?
They are Pioneer TSA1310 which are 35rms.
they will be running from the headunit on there own, i dont think ill be able to connect them to my amp as they will not stand it.

Tom, not even 0 Guage reinforced cable?

I thought about doing this, from the battery, underneath the car and up through the boot somewhere.

Instead I just ripped the whole passenger side interior out, including the chair and went from there.

:)

I think you may need a bit of extra oomph up front if you are going for something decent.

100wrms from a decent set of components should do it.

A 'good' speaker is something you cannot really define. Every speaker has a different sound and everyone likes something different.

£100 to £150 is about the minimum you should spend on a front set though. You can spend £1000's if you want! :)

The best way to choose is to listen to different speakers, see what you like.

Daz, agreed, 100Wrms is about what you need up front in terms of amp power. I'll be running just shy of 200W/side on my install.

I am also looking for a 'half' decent set of components for the front of mine, with a nice amp.

I have seen a loverly pair...
tielite_6comp.jpg

But at £800...i dont think they are quite in my budget...lol

So i was thinking along the lines of these...
BOS-FS60
Fs60.jpg

Nominal Size 6" (165mm)
Recommended Amplifier Power 15-150 watts
Nominal Impedance 4-ohm
Frequency Response (3dB in car) 60-20,000Hz
Mounting Depth (from surface) 2-1/2" (63mm)
Sensitivity (1 watt (2.83v) at 1m) 91dB
System Type 2-way

Paired with this...
MRV-T420
MRV-T420.jpg

2 x 110 Watts RMS @ 4 OHM
Frequency Response 10Hz-50kHz
Signal/Noise Ratio >100dB
High/Low Pass Filter Adjustable 15-400Hz (12dB)
Bass Boost +12dB
Input Sensitivity 200mv to 4v MOSFET Power Supply

What do you think?

I wasn't going to bother with the rear speakers(just disconnect them)...what are you thoughts on this?

When do you think you will have yours sorted?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Another1 for the great Tom or if u have some knowledge of I.

Fingers crossed it will be done over xmas.

This is what I have:
http://english.rainbow-audio.de/speaker/details.php?AN=231533
But with the kickbass option.

The bostons are nice. The DLS R6A are supposedly nice, very laid back and smooth.

Also these:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=2869
are supposed to be really quite nice too.

You have to ignore the power handling on components, the musical content is very different to pure bass so they will take an awful lot more than rated. The Rainbows I'm getting can run easily at 300W.
