Handbrake light: When I release the handbrake initially (straight after starting car) it goes off but then once the car starts moving it comes back on again and remains on....I know that on some cars this happens when the brake pads need changing etc but I wouldn't have thought Fiat would have bothered doing this... am I looking at a faulty connection or something?? Cheers

Hi Gaz
Have u checked ur fluid level in the brake master cylinder.

exrovermech

There is a switch under handbrake gaiter next to the handbrake. The light comes on when the switch is not pressed down (when the handbrake is up). the swicth maybe faulty or you may have a faulty earth.

Re: Re: Another dashboard warning light problem

cheers exrovermech. The fluid was a little low so got that topped up. However, there must have been a leak which got worse cos the warning light started coming on again yesterday and on the way to the garage today the brakes went all spongy and then the clutch went. (Apparently they are all connected to the same fluid reservoir??!!) Anyhows, car is now off the road being fixed.
