Another clutch problem

Not sure if this is related to a recent post on clutched, but i have recently experienced the clutch pedal becoming temporarily stuck, whilst re-engaging the clutch. And even on a couple of occasions whilst pushing down the clutch pedal - it feels like it comes across a bit of resistance.

It is becoming quite worrying. Could it be related to the fact that i've had the engine out recently and maybe it wasn't put back correctly? (As to say may be clutch isn't properly in alignment)

R-plate hgt @51k miles, by the way.

Could be the slave cyl.

Are they signs of potential slave cylinder failure? I had noticed from its history that it was changed about 20k ago.

Could this lead to any type of catastrophic failure? I heard the clutch fragmenting in a previous post.
Is it safe to drive mildly around until i am able to get it seen to?

Sorry, slave was changed around 15k ago - if that makesny diffence!

Usually they start to leak

Could be the release arm pivot is sticking.

I semi-like the sound of that second option - it sounds less serious.

Any clue to what might make it stick?
Other than that, the clutch feels fine and the pedal movement is smooth as butter (when this problem doesn't happen).

Seems to occur slightly more from 2nd to 3rd, but it is not limited to that alone.

Maybe cos its old

Get someone to press the clutch while you eyeball it under the bonnet.

Thanks Tom, but i think that's a no-can-do on the hgt.
Can't see anything through the tightly packed engine bay.

It's a bloody nightmare sometimes. But it sounds like it may not lead to anything major - i'm just not sure when i can get it properly looked at. I just need it for a small-ish journey (about 40miles round-trip) early tomorrow morning.

Sounds like it should make it.

Have the same problem now and again. On mine, it's the pedal fouling my non-standard Hellford mats that slide forward. Most disconcerting when you lift your foot off the pedal and it doesn't follow it!

Sorry for sounding thicker than your average plank, but isn't the battery on the opposite side of the clutch? Are you sure it's possible to view it from that angle?

Unless they've moved the battery on the HGT while I wasn't looking it should still be above the gearbox, right where the clutch slave cyl is.

Okay, so the slave cyl. is under that somewhere - that's cool. Will have a look when light sometime soon - cheers!

Yup, yup, yup.
I see where it's location should be in the haynes manual. Even though it doesn't cover the hgt, it should be in the same place as other hydraulic clutch mechanisms in the bravo range.
