I've promised my kiddies a couple of guinea pigs next week and was chuffed to win a hutch and run off ebay. OK i'm an ebay sniper.

After winning the hutch i received an email from one of the other bidders saying:

Hi,, You pipped us at the last minute for the rabbit hutch. how badly do you
want this as my two daughters are very disapointed they didnt get it.
If its not that inportant to you can you please let me know.

The cheek of it, i won this on the 19th and they placed their bid on the 18th:mad:

just reply desperate enough for it to be worth another £50

Well i wondered what would annoy them more. Reply saying 'not even sure i need it yet' or not to reply at all?

So i emailed saying i won't know till next week whether i even want it and that i only bought it to be on the safe side.

I think i'm evil

Hi,
I am a volunteer for a children’s charity and used last month’s living allowance to purchase this item so that the kids I look after can have a pet to care for and to learn essential skills. Maybe next month I can buy an animal to go inside the cage, it depends on how much I have to use my electric heater this month so hopefully this cold snap will go. I just hope the kiddies keep warm and they like their empty cage, they don’t have much after all losing their parents to the war in Iraq and then catching leprosy so I do my best.

pmsl. Not quite the angle i wanted though. I wanna pee them off completely so they think i'm a spiteful so and so:p

They're just trying it on which would be fair enough with a rare item, but it's just a simple cage I am guessing? Buy one from somebody else silly ebayer person and let the orphaned, limbless Iraqi kids have their cage....is it too much to ask?!

well believe it or not i don't really want it. I want one of the ones with the run built into it, but i'm too impatient to wait till i can afford one and i want the guinea pigs more than the kids do:eek:

ask them if they have a freecycle site near them, been loads near me for free!! :p

damn i never thought of that. Could of saved myself £20

Where's the nearest one angel or have you got a web addy for them? you're not that far from me.:)

i would never let an animal live indoors, 50 years ago dogs were always kept in the garden.

Guinea pigs are quite fragile though. and i don't have the best reputation for keeping animals alive. But hey ho, my kids will have to learn this about me and be grateful i've managed to keep them alive for this long :p

They will live quite happily 'outdoors' - take it from someone who currently has 20 (I have had more - think it was approx 30 at one point - just did a count in my head :p). If the're in a nice frost proof lined shed with plenty of hay, they will be fine with regular cleaning out, daily clean food/water and some attention. They are sociable animals, so don't just get a single one, get a same sex pair. Don't get a longhaired unless you're willing to spend the time grooming and trimming it. I could go on and on...

As for having animals in doors, the only animals are mine that are indoors day and night is one of our dogs, the fish and a hamster. The others are outside in sheds.

ooh you may come in quite handy then in the near future? :p

I intended to get 2 and i'd spoken to someone at the garden centre where we will be buying them from and she told us about same sex pairs etc. I'm fairly prepared now but any hints and tips would be great (y)
