ok i have been looking at ebay at pandas as i know very little about them i going to ask you lot

how many models are there ?
what are the different engine sizes?
which one would you personally recommend?

and has anyone put up a what to look for buyers guide up at all here?

A rough guide to uk models. (sorry I'll probably miss loads)

1981 to 84
Mk1 in 4x2(903cc) and 4x4(985cc) in standard 45 and 45s trim levels. Also some limited editions (Bianca, Fantasia etc). All Mk1's are rare so if you see a MOT and taxed runner buy it:devil:

1984 to 91/92
all fitted with carburetters and 5 speed gearbox as an option on all.
Mk2a 4x2 with 750 (769cc 34bhp) fire engine all very basic even for a panda, early ones fitted with mk1 type hamock seats. Rare Italia 90 world cup limited edition with football hubcaps

with 903cc pushrod engine mainly fitted to the Dance model

with 1000cc (45bhp) fire engine in cl, clx and super trim (plus others) Limited editions Bianca, fantasia, sky, pink (rare) etc


Mk2a 4x4 with 1000cc (50bhp) fire engine. Also available in sisley (1) and sisley (2) versions (the one everyone wants :nutter:)

91/92 to 92/93
mk2a 4x2 manual 1000cc fitted with bosch fuel injection.
mk2a 4x2 'auto' selecta 1000cc fitted with carburetter.

1993 to 95(just)
mk2b 4x2 manual 1000cc fitted with full italian fuel injection. Most appear to be fizz (basic trim) or Colour (clx-ish trim) limited editoins

'auto' selecta 1100cc (55bhp) fitted with fuel injection

It is, the injection units are SPI (single point injection) basically a computer controlled carb which means you then have a cat O2 sensor etc.

Karen if you want a decent 4x4 you will have to pay (£500-£1000), Sisleys are getting close to £2k if immaculate, whereas the late models 94-95 can be found in relatively good if not excellent condition for a fraction of the money. The Mk2b's also had galvanised doors so the rust problem isn't really.

I would go for .....Double sunroofs (Great in sunny weather even when its cold like today!!).....Carb model (Much more fun and zippy) 1000cc.. and pick a colour you like!!!!

i like the sunroof but dont need another soft top as i have a craker, i am looking for a work horse for the trip down b&q and you just know that set of drawer will not fit in the B,so i am trying to work out the best model for me

Yep. My Sisley cost £468, and that was with the fact that I knew I would have to spend about £200 to get it through the MOT!

The engine Sizes were as follows

769cc (750L, Fire engine, carbed)
903cc (903cc ohv engine, called the Panda 900 iirc , carbed)
999cc (1000CL, CLX, Pink etc. Came carbed upto 1992/1993 and became SPI injection)
1108cc (Injection 1993> Selecta's only

Spec's;

L - Basic
CL - slightly better spec (not sure what else you got though over L, just a clock and opening rear windows I think )

Pink was limited to 250 only sold across the country in batches of 20 iirc (ask Petel, he knows loads about them )

Sisley was origionally a higher spec 4x4, limited to only 500, but when they sold so well, that limit of 500 went out the window. To get a roadworthy Sisley your looking £600+

The 4x4's all came with 999cc Carbed engines, with 50BHP, over the 45BHP the standard 2wd 999cc's came with.
