amps and components questions

hi all, ive decided to get another amp for my front door speakers, the door speakers are 13cm kenwood and are 110 Watts,

1) does this mean i should get a 110 watt amp to power them?

2) ive seen a cheap kenwood amp for £75, which is 250 watts, would this be too powerful for my components,

3) if i did buy the 250watt kenwood amp (even though it is a 2 channel) could i run both 13cm speakers and another set of 17cm components?? (by this i mean run 4 speakers off a 2 channel amp, simply with 2 connections on posotive and 2 on negative)

Matty mate,
for your front comps, i'd get an amp with a power rating of about 2 x 90 watts (peak).

You could use the one you were talking about but need to set it up carefully.

wire them un, and fade the stereo to the front. pop in a good CD, something jazzy (band music etc) with proper instruments.

With ths amp's gain at about 1/4, turn the volume up. If it sounds clean, turn the gain up a notch. Repeeat this until you hear some distortion at MAX volume.

Now turn down the gain a smidgen till there is no distortion.

For that amp, i wouldnt go more than 75% gain.

ps while you are at it, replace the speaker cable with some quality OFC ones.

I know Daz and TAFI know their **** when it comes to ICE so u might wanna ask them too.

i have plenty of good quality wire, im going to take it to a local car audio place to get wired up, as i have little knowledge and experience. i have a 650 watt 4 channel bridgable kenwood amplifier for two 12" kenwood subs, 13cm kenwood components and a kenwood mp3 hu, and now ive just ordered that kenwood one i was on about with 250 watts, and i wouldnt have a f**cking clue where to start, so once me enclosure is built im gonna sit it all in place and let the profesionals wire the lot up

Mate,
i'd leave the Power Cable wiring (through the bulkhead) to the pros. I did mine with EJ (1.8 HLX) and there was 1ch clear from the brake line. lol.

The speaker cable is tricky to get through to the doors. I did mine different. I'll take a pic and post tomorrow.

The rest is **** easy but like Daz et al have said, be careful with the trim coz they snap easily.

nice one jay, pics will be great help as i thought i may have a bit of a fiddle getting wires through the doors.

also u might no the answer to this...lol

on my 4 channel amp there are the obvious eight connections 4 poss and 4 neg, for four speakers or 2 subs bridged but...theres also a little "slotty in" connector that has eight thin wires coming out, theyre about 10cm in length and i have no idea what these extra thin wires are for. they are colour coded in pairs

eg
purple and purple with black stripe
green and green with black stripe
blue and blue with a black stripe
yellow and yellow with a black stripe

(my old amp was as simple as plug it in and connect a sub and that was it)
this kenwood one has lots of little dials and buttons,

Daz is right mate. They are the high level inputs.

I haven't used these in years but let me have a stab.

Green and Purple are rear and are on either side. White and grey and in the middle and are fronts.
