right basically since im having lots of trouble with current headunit, i've put the fader down to rear only so that i get my amped 6x9's only working (when i turn up the front ones they start to crackle, and its not the wiring of the car as have tried in old car and had same problems) which has been all well and good until yesterday,

the amp keeps cutting out every 10 seconds pressing the release for the facia of the stereo and pushing it back in will make it work again, so when it cut out i pulled over and had a quick look and the "Protect" led light is lit up, anyone got any ideas what this could be/mean

(Its a mosfet 240w amp (2 chan))

cheers

Give good earthing (sep cable from amp to GND) and a big power feed from battery to amp.

(HU wiring may not be able to supply enouhgh power to run amp at said volume) and bad earthing would probably give speaker crackle!

GrpN Catback Exhaust system on...rattles like f**k, but very nice!!!

try turning the gain down on your amp. it shouldn't be set to more than 3/4 of full power

wake up and see the light! www.puntoforum.co.uk

Could just be a short if it works k when you push the HU into the dash, theres not very much space for the wiring at the back of a dash for all the HU wiring.

Protecion will come on if you have got a short or something in your power cable or ground. Or if your cable isnt up to the job, what gauge are you using?
