Hi guys.
Can anyone point me inthe right direction with regards to removal of the altenator on my 57 Plate Bravo 1.9 Multijet (150hp)
Thanks in advance

Just an update people. I tried taking the inners out of the drivers side wheel arch to see if I could gain access to the alternator that way....no luck. Then I took the top engine cover off and moved the radiator header tank out of the way. I also removed the timing belt cover. I managed to undo 1 bolt from the alternator. I can't even see the tensioner let alone slacken it off. There is another bolt to the underside of the alternator which at present I've no idea how to get to. Please oh please if anyone knows which way I should proceed now, let me know.
Many thanks

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I'll give it a look and let you know how I fare.
Thanks again

Had mine done the other week, unless you can get it up in the air then forget doing it yourself. It has to come out from underneath and there's little room to do it.
I ended up getting it done at a local garage, they had to lower the sub frame to get it out. Ended up costing £180 all in with labour and recon alternator (12 month warranty). Didnt think that was too bad at all.

Thanks for that. That was more or less the way I was thinking of going. I lay out in the pouring rain stripping back all the plastic work from under engine, and, yes, I could get the alternator out, but no way would I be able to free it from the car. I would be at the very least looking at dropping the drive shaft! Not what I really want to get into on the driveway. Spoke to my local garage, and they quoted me £130 but I'll have to source an alternator and belt. Think I'm gonna go down that route.
It was the pouring rain that put me off :)
Thanks all for your input

It's a ridiculous design but apparently most cars are the same now. So much for the old days and changing an alternator in half an hour!
I've heard that there are as many as 5 different Alternators depending on the level of trim and equipment on your car, so make sure you get the actual part number from the garage before you source another one. Before I got mine to a garage I too was gonna do it myself but on a driveway with no axle stands would be impossible, but saying that I still don't think you'd get it out, it needs to be up in the air.

I also looked on eBay for prices and have seen some recon units for around £90 for the 120amp unit.

Cheers for that Rubadub
I was a bit cheeky really. I got in touch with my local Fiat garage and gave them my chassis No. and they told me which one I needed. That's a 120 amp. one as it goes. But at a very special one time only price of £276 they can whistle lol
I've seen the ones on eBay, and I think I'll go for one of those.
It's booked in at my local garage to be done on Tues. So all being well I should be driving around again Tues :)
I was\am getting fed up using the motorbike for work. Ok in the Summer not so good in the rain.
I'll let you know how it all goes.

Just to let anyone who may be interested. I got the alternator sorted on the motor (joy oh joy) the bike is great, but the weather's really turning now!
Anyways. Cars done. The mechanic who did it....Or should that be Technician? Did quite honestly tell me ''that he doubted that I would have been able to get it out on the driveway''
He apparently had the hoist up and down that many times he lost count. It eventually came out from the topside, just about everything had to be stripped away.
I paid £150 labour but I feel it was worth every penny.
Hope these threads may help anyone who may experience the same problem.
Cheers everyone :)

Hi all.
The Bravo is definitely not giving up on giving me grief lol. In the last 12 months I've changed the EGR valve, had the alternator replaced, then the battery died!! Then 2 weeks ago I replaced the front discs and pads. Just when I thought all was well I have started getting the onboard error message "check glo plugs"
My question is this.....Are they easily accessible?
I can only assume it's just the one that's playing up at the moment as she still starts as normal.
If anyone has any knowledge on this subject I would love to hear from you. The car is a 2007 Bravo 1.9 Multijet (150)
Thanks in advance all.
