Alternator rebuilding and servicing

I've been having charging problems on my 2001 JTD100 HLX, finding a second hand alternator is proving pretty difficult. Whats the difference between the internals of a 1.4 alt for example?

I understand the JTD one is a higher output (its got AC so its the 120amp one) but are there any serviceable parts/interchangeable parts I could nick from a 1.4 alt?


Alternatively does anyone know who will recondition alternators round the oxford/reading area. and how much it would cost?
