Technical alternative to gasket paper?

Hi,

Lost the thermostat gasket, and can't find my gasket paper.

I think it was very thin.

Any good alternatives?

Suspension file card looks good, 'cos no gloss. Maybe too thick though.

Or paper take away bag?

Or blue hylomar?

Or both?

The blue gunk should be fine

buy a gasket for it , there pennys no need to skimp by tryng to bodge it

some people use cerial packets. Try to stop coolant getting to bolt threads blue stuff and/or thread lock.

Or you could just tigreseal it or sikkaflex it thats as gooda bodge as a cerial packet,

Id just save yourself doing the job twice and get yourself a proper gasket, as james said there pennys

Instant gasket. Fiat did not fit a paper one as standard.

899 will be gasket as it is an old engine. Instant gasket is the modern day version.

Hi David

What do you do with the hammer normally I hit my thumb?
I use pencil, leather punch and scapel using the/an old stat body as a template.
I coat the middle of the bolt threads with locking compound to keep the coolant out... and coat the cardboard in blue non hardening goo.

Place the cardboard on the housing and tap away with the ball to form the gasket..simples
