Hello everyone, been working away with no tinternet so aint been able to sort out the selling of the Mk1 HGT, will get this sorted at the weekend so if anyone still wants a cheap HGT then you know where to look.

Right go back today & was looking to take the new HGT out for a spin when I noticed that the Alarm LED now stays on after the car has been unlocked & disarmed by the remote until the car is started..

What's going on here then?

By the way I have searched through the posts but the battery in the remote running low answer is something I doubt is the cause as I've changed the cell for a new one 5 minutes ago :(

not sure about the alarm but do you find the mk1 and mk2 hgts different to drive?

Apart from the so much better MPG the Mk2 definately feels more relaxed & sedate than the Mk1 but is quicker A to B. Body roll isn't as noticalby in the Mk2 either but this may be down to the shocks & springs only covering 27,000 miles compared to the Mk1's 108,000.

The engine noise is the big one though, with the stainless on the Mk1 the kids say it sounds like a thunder storm is rummbling in the distance where the Mk2 sounds like a Bee huming away quietly

what kind of alarm is it?
if its a CLIFFORD, the led being on constantly means its in valet mode. you can do anything to the car, remove batteries, dismantle alarm etc while its in valet mode.
it SHOULD go out of valet mode the next time you start it, but it sounds like your remote unlock button is actually programmed as the valet mode button. thats not ideal, so you should call your nearest clifford installer and ask them how to reset it.

if its not a clifford, i dont know what the deal is.

Nope it is the standard FIAT alarm that came with the Mk2.

It hadn't done this previously until yesterday after all that rain so maybe this is one of those annoying electrical problems that can crop up.

Thanks for having a go anyway :)

Try putting the key in the ignition and turn to Mar and press the alarm button. I am sure its to tell you the interior sensors are disabled. Maybe wrong, it does state something like that in my handbook.
