alarm keeps going off when driving

Before the sad demise of my much loved Punto (it's gone to the scrapyard in the sky) I got some very good advice from this form.
I was recently given a 1998 Mondeo, which was a Godsend, as I was carless. It's very nice except the alarm keeps going off, even whilst driving. The horn beeps and the hazards flash, not constantly, but small 'peeps'.
It stops by itself, or sometimes when i turn the engine off and on again, but not always.
I know this a Fiat forum but thought I'd try my luck and see if anyone had any ideas how I can stop it.

We had an Escort that done that. In the end the only way to stop it was to remove the fuse for the alarm

I had a MK 4 escort that done this too, infact the head lights worked the rear wiper, the rear wiper turned the starter, so on so on,, water had got into the fuse box and worked its way to rewire the car, lol
