My 2005 Stilo JTD, Had both front Airbags deployed. When I replace the Airbags will the electronics reset, or do I need a new Ecu and put on Examier to remove those dash lights? Thanks,

i still need to sort my airbag light out, terrible i know  does it cost much to get this sorted? (assuming it was the wiring) thanks :worship:

On a punto? if so & fault is (probably will be) passenger switch signal the additional switch loom is about £3.20.Dealer fit only though.

Hi T14086, Can you tell me a bit more about Squibs? Where to look?
Thanks

Stilo Airbag ECU

I have been having nothing but bother ever since airbag recall on my Stilo JTD. My dealer is now telling me the replaced ECU has crashed  and needs replaced, as well as a side impact sensor which is reading as faulty.
As you can imagine the ECU is not cheap, I have however sourced a new ECU on the internet for only £69.99, coming from a liquidation sale. The query I have is part nos.

I have been told the part no of my ECU is 46835521, the one listed for sale is 46835522. Would this unit be compatable, or will I have to spend the extra couple of hundred quid?

Re: Stilo Airbag ECU

Normally as far as airbag part numbers are concerned the last digit is the difference & I reckon (check though) it is not compatible. Also cant remember but think ECU on stilo needs configured.

Re: Stilo Airbag ECU

I had thought that would be the case. I was wondering if it is normal for the ECU to crash. I have contacted Fiat customer helpline to see if they can provide any advice or assistance. No reply as yet.

My dealer is telling me that an ECU cannot be repaired once crashed, however I keep on seeing sites dedicated to this. Could a crashed ECU be fixed?

Re: Stilo Airbag ECU

No the car was never crashed. The dealer is saying the ECU has 'crashed'. They claim it crashed because of the sensor fault, that is why they will not replace the ECU under parts warranty. This ECU is less than a year in the car.:(

is it a new part you had fitted less than a year ago? if so dont parts come with a 1 year, unlimited mileage warranty?

ECU Error Airbag Failure

Hi All can anyone help with a intermittent Airbag Failure message. Does anybody know a less expensive route to sort it. Can I remove message until I can get it sorted.
Thanks indvance

Airbag ECU Replacement

I am replacing my front seats with Sparco Milano Prestige seats. My current seats have airbags in them as well as having curtain air bags. Obviously these new seats don't come with air bags, so I need to change the airbag ecu for one that does not support both these types of airbags. I have acquired the correct ecu for only supporting the steering wheel and passenger airbag. However, I have read that "In the control device there are saved specific data of the car (vehicle identification number and airbag equipment), which makes it almost impossible to build in a control device of a vehicle of the same type without code translation". Is this true, I won't be able to use this new ecu?

Plug it in and see what happens. Let us know.
Most cars allow you to change the airbag ECU without too much difficulty or reprogramming it. This is a stilo though and I fear it probably will complain. I wouldnt be surprised if the airbag ECU's are all the same and the body computer stores the configuration for the car.
Why not do as I suggested before and just connect a 2.5 ohm resistor across the airbag connector under the seat when you unplug the airbag The ECU will think the airbag is there and not complain. What's more your curtain airbags will still work and you will have no problems with swapping the airbag ECU.
