Technical air intake

Hi I have a 1.9 JTD 110ELX and Ive noticed all the mareas ive seen seem to have a big plastic thingy over the radiator with the air intake in I was just wondering if I was this plastic thingy missing as mine is bunged away down behind the plastic wheelarch and it seems to me it cant get a good gulp of air hope you will excuse my use of technical terms thanks for reading and probably replying.

dosent seem to be any room for a pipe to go to the air filter mustnt have had a one

mounting holes are there but the intake system is completely different so i'm going to say no, i dont think you are ment to have one, if you want it just for decoration though mines available

I cant understand some of the folks on taking theres off I thought it was better if you got cold air sucking into the engine

yeah but we dont take that bit off, we remove a pipe between that bit and the airbox and its just to make the engine roar!
