Technical Air intake shroud

Hello All,

I've just realised, after looking at the repair manual, some pictures on the forums and under the bonnet of my Dad's Brava, that my Marea (2000/X 105 JTD) doesn't have an air intake shroud bolted along the top of the radiator. I'd been wondering why the hose from the air filter box didn't seem to go anywhere!

So the questions I have are:

1) Did they all have shrouds fitted? I'm guessing they did.

2) Does it really need one? It seems to go alright without. What are the pros & cons?

3) Does anybody have one laying around they don't need and does the 105JTD have to have a specific one, or are they the same irrespective of car/engine?

its a cold air feed and some cars will be missing it due to the studs seizing and breaking out of the plastic. it won't miss it really, unless driven hard the whole time. I'm sure it could be ordered from a dealers..

i hate to go against what you have said but this part of the intake system really isnt needed.

the part that sits on the front is just a resenator to reduce intake noise.

check the 20V airbox mod thread, it will show you that we do the same as you have to give more engine noise, i guess on a diesel you dont want that but there will be no ill effect from it as the filter is still in place.

Im not sure about the 105jtd but the 110jtd dosent have one fitted due to the pipe from the filter to the engine taking up the space.
