Got a cone type filter to sit directly on the tb. It has no connection for the breather. Any suggestions what to do with the breather tube please?

Really you don't want the filter to sit on top of the TB -- it'll gobble up lots of hot air.

They sound good but drain performance like a charge heater, but if your desperate to keep it on, back in the day I had the same problem with a VW, my breather pipe was 15mm so I heated a piece off 15mm copper red hot then pushed it through the rubber part on the back of the cone making a loverly neat hole and it was connected 
Good idea thanks. I think it will be ok. Had one on my barchetta and it didn't seem to suffer from heat.
there is nothign at all wrong with a cone filter, just sticking it atop the TB is a bit silly - have a search of this section, plenty on the topic.

I've got the cone. Going to use a cinq airbox and some plumbing. I'll make sure the fikter picks up sone nice cold dense air.

I will. I did a similar project on my Barchetta and it worked very well.
Got it fitted! I've used the Cinq "bob" and some of the Cinq piping which includes the breather. I joined the breather pipe to my original one. Then comes a bit of pipe ftom an MGTF , the elbow shaped bit is Barchetta, then the cone in nice cold air. It sounds good and there is definitely a small power increase. Quite pleased with myself!

Its even cured the high idling speed! Sweet as a nut now.
