Punto (Mk2/2b) Air filter problem

Hi my air filter box is lose due the bolts not being secure as one in the holders for the bolts has snapped and it seems lose the box to the engine what can i do to fix this as i think its causing me high fuel consumption thanks

Hi What car and engine do you have. I have a stilo and the bottom air box mount is broken but dose not cause any probs make sure the pipes are tight.
If there is a bit of plastic left try a longer bolt and a penny washer to clamp it back. Sure there will be lots of people with the same thing and different ways to fix it.

Just go to a scrappy and get a "new" one. Late Seicento 1108 is identical to "plain" Mk2 at least.

Having said that, can't see why it would cause high fuel consumption.

A loose airbox WONT cause high fuel consumption
it'll either rattle and be annoying

cause a whistle and be annoying

and allow dirty air to enter = Shortening the engine life

If the bolts broke in the threads - then they mayforwell need tapping and drilling out to allow new ones to be fitted
