General air filter and piggy back chip!!

hi i was just after a bit of infomation!! first of all i have just baught a "green" induction kit for my car but i was wondering what is the differance between the "green" and the "k&n" if anything appart from £6!! and also i have seen a thing on ebay called the piggy back chip!! i have read up on it and it says it is just a resister but it works!! well does anyone know what this is and does it work on the punto!! the add says it does but i never beleve adds!! cheers for the help!!

theres a lot of stuff on these forums about them ebay resistor all bad they kill your car, the ecu gets used to it and adjusts itself to compensate. do a search on the forums for ebay +chip.

The ebay "chips" (actually just a resistor, cost: about 2p from Maplin) simply make your ECU run maximum fuelling all the time. This will knacker valves, valve seats, pistons, catalytic converters, and lambda sensors, all through overfuelling. You'll also get sod-all performance gain (as the extra fuel remains unburnt and is spat out through the exhaist), your MPG wil drop drastically, and there's a disticnt possibility that the ECU itself could be damaged!

Don't bother with the resistor thing, just go with an induction kit. I've got a K&N and I'm very happy with it. And a good service with deent oil (GTX or Magnatec) gives a noticeable performance improvement

i have an induction kit!! it is a "green" i know they are good but are k&n better or will it give out the same?? I have been put off the chip now neways!! thanks for your help!!
