Just took the Abarth to Halfords to take advantage of there £35 regas of the aircon and the swine would'nt fill , there crew said there must be a bad leak as no back pressure detected.
Is there a lay mans way of checking the system for leaks with low pressure air or something as the obvious crack places look ok.

Lastly upon reading a few threads about aircon one in particular went on about replacing some filter in the system, if thats the case is it worth the taking it into a dealer to repair.

Cheers

It was probably my thread about the dehydration filter, which should be replaced after the system is opened. It is nothing to do with leaks.
Find a good airconditioning specialist, rather than a dealer to look at it. If you want to DIY, you can get a UV dye can (from Halfords or e-bay) which you put in the system and where the dye leaks out, it shows up with a UV light.

If gas is coming out faster than it can go in then the leak would be massive. I'd check the front pipe near the linear pressure switch for cracking or even broken off entirely

Still need to get it professionally refilled anyway afterwards but i wouldn't mess with UV dye with a leak as big as that. That's more handy if you're looking for small leaks perhaps
