Air Boz Mod/ Induction kit

Ok just been reading about a airbox mod for the 1.6/1.8s

just wondering if anyone has done any air box mods to a 1.4??

Also do induction kits affect the insurance of a car?

i got a Green induction kit on my 1.4 and then they wouldnt insure me. (im 18). im 19 in a month and i'll have been on my own insurance for a year by august so i am going to ask again to see if they'll let me have it on :\ for gods sake it doesnt even do anything.

It does sound really good tho, combined with a decent exhaust. sometimes up a steep hill in 2nd your car sounds like a WW2 blimp. wicked.


but yes, depending on your age, it will affect insurance.

um major thing is it in my mums insurance! i'm 18! and they wanted 2000 for it!

Drill some holes in your airbox. or take the pipe out between your airbox and the injector and put a pair of tights there.

It'll be awesome.

Dont do that! They are there for a reason. Major long term damage to your car!

Just buy a K&N or BMC panel filter, they sound better and you don't have to tell your insurance! Everyone is a winner!

U are required to tell your company as its not standard kit and in theory its performance enhancing. Whether u do tell them or not is another matter

According to K&N themselves you need not tell your insurance company.

I used to have a 1.4, and put 3 different induction kits on, a Max Power one, a RaceX one and it now has a K&N 57i. The Max Power ones sound nice, but the manufacturing is awful!!! its basically a 5mm thick piece of foam in a metal cage, so offers very little filtration.

The RaceX one is enclosed, so works well, but in enclosed so is much quieter than an open filter.

I prefer the K&N, because there is lots of filtration and it sounds nearly as good as the Max Power one.

All in all though I have found the 1.4 does not respond very well to induction kits, they do not make a massive difference in the noise of the engine.
