Hi Guys, my 1.3 multijet with duel logic has the " Air bag failure see handbook" and of cause the handbook says take it dealer.

The garage that does all the work on my car read the code and said the fault was box connector behind the front bumper, this has been fitted but the red warning light still on. They say the can get into the air bag setting on the computer but can't reset it.

Can anyone help before I take it to dealer?

Thank you guys. Mark (Stoke On Trent)

have you got pre tensioners built into your seat belt stalks? if stalk has been activated this would put air bag light on. if you have got pre tensioners have a look under seats and check wiring . knocking the multi pugs can sometimes bring the light on too.

There MAY be a quick/easy/free fix, but unfortunately I don't have time right now to detail it as I have to go out for an appointment, so I'll do a better post when I get back.

To aid diagnosis in the meantime & to see if it may be a similar problem to what we had with our Idea 1.3 ... Have you perchance had a flat/very low battery recently, and did the supposed "airbag fault" appear around the same time ?

Regards
Bob

Hello, Thank you for your reply, I don't belive I've had a flat battery on the day in question I had driven to manchester, parked for a few hours and collected the car, on the return journey I had tarvelled about half a mile when the airbag fault started!

I use my car every day as it's a taxi so really the battery gets a good charge each day. I had not moved my seat or knocked the airbag switch in the glove box.

I have the car booked in at local dealership on Wednesday next. the garage that i use any other time had put the car on the diognastic and it told them it required something that fits behind the bumper! This was fitted but the problem was still there!

Do youi have any idea's (no pun intended :D)

reagrds. Mark

Hi guys just to let you know that my airbag problem is fixed now! cost £300  they say it was a broken wire behind the N/S headlight? not sure how true that is ?
