After Market Bigger turbo?

Hi All

I have recently been talking with my partner and we are wanting to put more power into our Arbarth or possibly turning it into a track car in the future..

does anyone know of any bigger after market turbo kits that i can get shipped to my mechanic at my Berwick Alfa dealer?

Check out 500 madness. They have vendors there who do upgrades.

The Madness kits are designed for the NA Multiair 1.4, they may not play nice with the European engine.

The last place you want to do this kind of work is a Fiat dealer. Find a trusted independent local turbo/ tuning specialist and they'll be able to advise you.

A bigger turbo is rarely the place to start. You would usually start with intake/ exhaust, intercooler, higher boost, bigger injectors, and then if you still want more look into a bigger turbo.

Scara73 in Italy do a hybrid/aftermarket turbo that is a straight swap on standard manifold, TMC may also sell that turbo. Not certain if standard turbo is oil rather than a water cooled turbo.

If that's right id recommend paying the extra for the Garrett GT1446z from Abarth Grande Punto SS / Abarth Punto Evo / Mito Cloverleaf together with the new manifold and pipe work. (Bigger turbo and more power means more heat) I think water cooling is needed at that level of performance.

Turbo Dynamics also do a hybrid, but again not sure if oil or water cooled. The hybrids should give upto 200bhp ish depending on setup. GT1446z up to about 225bhp ish on standard injectors going by results from other owners. Possibly more with upgraded injectors.

The easiest route to take is do what Fiat have done before on limited edition 500's like the Ferarri and Maserati models and from June the 595 will be offered with the Garrett GT1446 turbo and the car is rated at 180PS 250NM and quote 6.7seconds to 60mph. So pretty quick.

This set up was used on the Trofeo cars and they ran over 200bhp and ran full season with no issues at that. These cars ran the uprated fuel injectors and rail that was originally offered on Punto SS kit.
