as the title suggests. I bought a 1100 Uno for the gf, the bay was filthy, soaked it with degreaser and then ran a hot hose (low pressure) over the soapy bits.. Including the Dizzy and coil.

I have a slight idea that water might have gotten into the carb.. as she is backfiring....

can i drain the carb? or something? :D

Check the inside of the distributor cap for damp and also make sure that the plug leads are also dry. If you have an 1108cc FIRE Uno (spark plugs at the back) rather than the 1116cc ohc version, then the spark plugs sit in little wells that hold water in nicely and can cause shorting. Make sure all water is cleared from them!

If you still had the airbox fitted when you did the pressure wash I think it would be unlikely that you would have water in the carburettor. It does sound more like water has got onto some electric parts. Oh yes, make sure the coil and its connections are dry too.

Let the forum know how you get on :)

lol, the airbox was off.

It started earlier, the alt belt was screaming like mad though then just died.

I need to retention it tomorrow and see what happens then...

its the coil pack take it out and put in the the cuboard with the boiler for a day to dry out, i did it ages ago
